KIPOS
It's hard to find tasty Greek food outside of Greece. We know. We've spent a lot of time in Greece.

Our experience with Greek restaurants outside of Greece is usually satisfactory — little more. That's because Greek food often takes on a “nationalized” flavor in other countries. For example, Greek food in Germany has a decided German flavor (yuck). Our experience is similar in Sweden, Norway and other countries (but the beautiful, blond, blue-eyed staff in Scandanavia are eye candy).
In the United States, Greek food is either good or it isn't. But there's no “U.S. overlay” on Greek food.
You have to visit the Kipos to get the freshest food in Greece. KIPOS (it means “garden” in Greek) is a fantastic find for those looking for authentic Greek food in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and the surrounding areas. The family running this restaurant is from Karpenisi, Greece. The home-spun touch with each dish is evident from the care and supervision of family members right in the kitchen.

We visited as a group of eight sampling a variety of dishes: spanakopita, grilled fish, Greek farmers salad (xoriatiki salata), Greek white wine, giant beans, paidakia (lamb chops on a spith), beef slices, and a variety of vegetarian dishes. All we're scrumptious!

The next time you're in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, put KIPOS on your “to go” list. You won't regret it.
